The Mark of Athena chapter 8FRANK'S POVThe Mark of Athena chapter 8 by SilenaChase
Everyone was sad that Annabeth was gone. I hadn't known her, but seeing how everyone else liked her, including Hazel, I liked her too. And the way she and Percy had been in love I had felt so happy for him. And Annabeth obviously loved him too. You could see it in the way she looked at him and how she lightened up when her eyes caught sight of Percy.
But I couldn't shake off the feeling that she had been hiding something. She had smiled and then suddenly stopped as if she remembered something that made her sad and worried. I don't think anyone else had noticed so maybe that was her normal behavior, but I had.
Hazel sat next to Percy and tried to comfort him, but to no use.
The girl named Piper leaned down to Percy and made sure he was listening to her.
"She looked for you for months. She didn't sleep the first days, worried sick of where you might be. She needed you, like you need her, but listen to me." She stopped and waited for Percy to look up at her.

"I trust you," I said. Even though the idea of safe fire sounded absurd I trusted Cinna because he sounded so certain.
"You think we'll burn to ashes?" Peeta comes up behind me.

"I put a lot of trust in everyone," I reply. I knew I shouldn't be telling my weaknesses to my competitors, but seriously, it's not like I have a chance to win these games.
He smiles a fake smile, an attempt to turn the conversation to a more fun topic. He can probably see where the conversation was going.
Cinna brings a torch lit on fire.
"The fire's completely safe, you shouldn't feel a thing." Shouldn't! Well that's reassuring.
"I'll rip off your cape if you rip off mine." Peeta leans down and whispers in my ear.

The Mark of Athena Chapter 7ANNABETH'S POVThe Mark of Athena Chapter 7 by SilenaChase
I woke up in a dark, dark room and my hands were tied behind my back. I'd probably been knocked out because of the pressure when I was pulled away from the boat.
My eyes used several moments to adjust to the darkness. I started loosing up the knot that tied my hands together. And after a few minutes I was able to untie it. Whoever had tied it must've been quite good because normally I'd remove it in less time. I started getting up with help from my hands and I realized my entire body was sore.
At this point I knew I was wrong not to tell Percy. Mother had given me orders to follow the Mark of Athena, but what was the Mark of Athena? It could be an owl, her sacred animal, or aegis or anything else that's sacred to her. And what would I find at the end of the path? My mother? Or something that would help us defeat the Giant's? I had no idea, but I'd had intentions to find out, but at that moment it didn't seem like I'd be able to.
"So you're alive," a man's voice sa
